Porsche has just announced a new Taycan variant named the “Taycan 4S.” The German automaker is making the model a bit more affordable and perhaps aims to give a tougher time to Tesla Model S sales now that Porsche Taycan production is in full swing at the company’s purpose-built Zuffenhausen factory

What’s The Best Way To Grow Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure?

Credit to Author: Guest Contributor| Date: Tue, 15 Oct 2019 03:23:23 +0000

At first, people tend to see new technologies as updated versions of older ones. Just as early TV shows consisted of filmed radio shows or stage plays, and early websites resembled the pages of low-budget magazines, many in the mainstream media still believe that vehicle electrification will mean swapping gas pumps for charging stations

Perplexing Accord & Camry Buyers … 7 Year Old Tesla Model S Battery Degradation … Old Nissan LEAF vs. New Tesla Model 3 — Top 20 CleanTechnica Stories in September

The most popular CleanTechnica article of September did not have “Tesla” in the title, but if you read the piece, you can see the story is closely tied to the Tesla Model 3. The shock I just couldn’t stop shaking was about how many people continue to buy new Toyota Camrys and Honda Accords. Compared to the Model 3, I get it — even if they have the same 5 year cost of ownership (possible), they have a lower upfront price. We start this month’s EV sales reports in the Netherlands. (Well, we already started there with another article, but here’s a second.) The nation had 8,067 PEV registrations, the best month ever for plug-ins aside from previous fiscal-derived peaks in December 2013 (9,304 units), December 2015 (15,908), and December 2016 (11,132). So, all points to a record performance this coming December. How much, would you say? 16,000? 20,000? More

Tesla Official Twitter Account ImageWhilst seemingly irrelevant to everyday driving, the ongoing competition between Tesla and Porsche over EV performance supremacy is quickly demonstrating that fossil sports cars are becoming obsolete — an important symbolic milestone for the EV revolution which will have repercussions in higher volume segments. If Porsche wants its Taycan to keep pace with the Tesla Model S Plaid, Porsche will have to allow it to outperform the company’s current flagship Panamera combustion sedan. And that will only highlight the inferiority of fossil vehicles
