Vistra’s Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant is a two-unit, 2,400-MW nuclear facility with pressurized water reactors (PWRs) located near Glen Rose in Somervell County, Texas. Built by Luminant with reactors supplied by Westinghouse and operational since 1990, Vistra received Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approval in July 2024 to extend the plant’s operation through 2053, adding 20 years beyond its original licenses.

The Tennessee Valley Authority has embarked on a fast-track project to replace the 1.3-GW Kingston Fossil Plant in Tennessee with a 1.5-GW modern complex. GE Vernova will supply 16 aeroderivative LM6000VELOX* dual fuel DLE (dry low emissions) gas turbine and generator packages, which are expected to deliver 850 MW of flexible power when they begin operating in 2028 at TVA’s Kingston site.
