In a historic ceremony at Stockholm’s Concert Hall, Geoffrey Hinton, the British-Canadian scientist known as one of the “godfathers” of artificial intelligence (AI), was awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics. He shared the prestigious accolade with Princeton University’s John Hopfield for their foundational work in artificial neural networks, a key development in the field of machine learning (ML).
