The Department of Defense (DOD) on Sept. 24, 2024, announced it broke ground on the Project Pele transportable microreactor project at Idaho National Laboratory (INL). Led by DOD’s Strategic Capabilities Office, the microreactor could be one of the first advanced reactors to operate in the U.S. as early as 2026.
