BMW i3 Electrify AmericaI absolutely appreciate the network of charging stations that Electrify America is providing. I used the network almost exclusively in a 4 state drive with a short-range electric vehicle (EV). I  drove the 2015 BMW i3 from Electrify America charging station to charging station from deep in Florida to the Appalachians and then back. I had some problems, some small delays, but never had to leave any group of stations without a charge. Yet, I think my suggestions should be taken seriously

Electrify America’s Reliable Fast Charging, & The Need For Autopilot — 2 Day, 4 State BMW i3 Road Trip

Electrify America, Cynthia Shahan | CleanTechnicaThe travel log of my trip from the Appalachians to Florida was quite different from my 3 day trip up. I again drove a 2015 BMW i3 REX with 71 miles of electric range. On the 3 day trip up to the Appalachians, I avoided using gas at all, going out of my way to find and use Level 2 chargers between the fast chargers. That is, until the last half hour to the mountain cabin

EV etiquette is sometimes a delicate subject, and a serious EV infrastructure issue. EV etiquette needs some attention in some places. Getting the infrastructure in the ground is one thing. Using it politely matters quite the same

The Model 3 is the standout, Zen-of-zero-emissions electric vehicle that is meeting peoples hopes and wishes straight on. Even though I don’t have a Model 3, I’d agree with anyone singing Model 3 praises. I have ridden in one many times, and I’ve previously written about the expansive back seat experience in a Tesla Shuttle. The praise the Model 3 gets is well deserved

It was the final day of my long-distance travel in the BMW i3 from Southwest Florida to the Appalachians — my journey seeing the sights of 4 states out of the i3’s generous windows as I made my way from charger to charger

Sunshine State To Appalachia In 2015 BMW i3 REx — Day 0 To Day 2

Cynthia Shahan CleanTechnica i3Although day one of BMW i3’s long-distance journey to Appalachia from the Gulf Coast of Florida was documented a bit in an earlier post, I will backtrack a moment to day zero. I don’t have a lot of range in this small electric car. It does have a small gas tank in time of low range to get you to the next charging station, but planning is certainly needed. I had mapped out my route on a MacBook Air, but the computer’s mood (or light) dropped the morning I was to leave the Sunshine State. The screen was black even though it seemed the Mac was running. I took off anyway — with my phone to guide me and the electric car from charging station to charging station

Leaving the Sunshine State i3 Cynthia Shahan CleanTechnica.comTo begin, I want to thank my personal patron saint of long-distance small-EV travel, Zachary Shahan. He plotted my trip for me from charger to charger since my MacBook Air took a hiatus and blacked out on me the morning I left the Sunshine State for the Appalachians in a small 2015 BMW i3 REx. My travel log lost, Zach kept me abreast of each charging location on my phone, and updated them as the trip went along and plans changed. I also found some extra stations with the navigation on the dash of the i

BMW i3 to Tesla Model 3 — Girls’ Perspective

When we moved to Florida last year, we had to learn how to live here, or at least my two daughters and I had to, as my husband is an original Floridian. The first thing we had to take care of was not finding a place to live, but getting a proper vehicle for our little family, so that we could get from one place to another

Saying Goodbye To The BMW i3 — Things We Loved, Things We Didn’t

Last June, when my family and I moved to Florida from Poland, we couldn’t afford the Tesla Model 3. Well, I could afford it as far as my calculations went, and it seemed to me that it made the most financial sense, especially with the $7500 tax credit still available, but I couldn’t get a loan for the amount needed for some reason. I’ve long loved the BMW i3 (I think it was the first electric car I drove, which made it extra special), and you could find wicked deals on used i3s because they had depreciated so much. So, I got one of my dream cars

4 More Reasons We Bought A Tesla Model 3

Credit to Author: Zachary Shahan| Date: Tue, 27 Aug 2019 06:03:37 +0000

Yesterday, I wrote about the 4 top reasons we just bought a Tesla Model 3 and decided to say goodbye to a 2015 BMW i3 REx we loved. Below are 3 more reasons — not as big as the core 4 but notable nonetheless. Were any of these critical in deciding to bring home a Model 3? No, but they were big improvements over the i3 that continually came to mind and helped build the case for the switch. In our first day with the car, each of them was already noticed and appreciated
