MANILA, Philippines—Filipino pole vaulting ace EJ Obiena showed gratitude to his longtime coach Vitaly Petrov, who received a prestigious award from the International Olympic Committee on Tuesday. Petrov was bestowed the IOC Coaches’ Lifetime Achievement Award in Lausanne, Switzerland for his “long-standing dedication to their respective sports and the athletes they coach.” He was awarded alongside Great Britain’s Aquatics head coach Jane Figueiredo. Drew Arellano and his firstborn Primo had a father-and-son bonding as they joined and finished a marathon held in Queenstown, New Zealand. Drew documented their experience through his Instagram page on Tuesday, Nov. 19. The father and son appear to have run under different categories as they had different name and number tags during the race. NDRRMC to validate 9 reported deaths due to recent cyclones


MANILA, Philippines — The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Wednesday it is validating the nine reported deaths due to the onslaught of recent tropical cyclones in the country. In a situational report of the agency issued at 8 a.m. on Nov. 20, the NDRRMC also disclosed that the number of people affected by cyclones Nika (international name: Toraji), Ofel (international name: Usagi), and Pepito (international name: Man-yi) increased to 3,031,171 people or 820,831 families as of their last counting.
