NDRRMC raises ‘blue alert,’ warns residents in landslide-prone areas

THE National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has raised its alert status to “blue” as tropical depression “Usman” passes through Central Philippines.
The “blue” alert took effect at 8 a.m. on Thursday, which means that all NDRRMC personnel will have to monitor the possible effects of the inclement weather and ensure coordination and preparedness among member agencies and affected areas.
Edgar Posadas, NDRRMC spokesman, also said that local government units (LGUs) must warn its constituents in landslide prone areas in the provinces of Quezon, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Aklan, Antique, Eastern Samar and Northern Samar. DEMPSEY REYES
