2 PH photos named among Time Magazine’s top 100 images for 2018

TWO photos taken in the Philippines – one by a Filipina and another by a Cambodian – have made it to Time magazine’s top 100 photos of 2018.
The first is from Filipina contributor Hannah Reyes-Morales, whose photo shows that of a transgender competing in a beauty pageant last April 6.
Cambodian photographer Jez Aznar’s photo showed landslide survivors making their way back to safety at Itogon, Benguet, after the onslaught of Super Typhoon “Ompong” (Mangkhut) last September.
Other photos included the crossing of Central American migrants to the United States, the California wildfires, the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and the historic summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
The photos were shown in no particular order on the website of Time magazine.
According to Time magazine, photographers around the world, with some have risking their safety, have pointed their cameras “in every direction”.
“Through photographers’ lenses, we saw traumatized students led from bloody classrooms and watched California burn,” the magazine wrote.
