Former special assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go reiterated the need for a legislative review of the juvenile justice law.
In an interview with reporters after an event with village leaders in Batangas, Go, who is gunning for a Senate seat in 2019, said the Juvenile Justice Act has not been properly implemented because drug syndicates use minors as couriers.
I know that the youth do not want to be victims by these syndicates),” he said.
The former presidential aide said sports development could help the youth stay away from illegal drugs.
Go also defended the Duterte administration’s campaign against illegal drugs. He added that the police would enjoy the support of the people for as long as they do their job well and do not abuse their powers.
We support the policemen who are doing their jobs, not the criminals who are out of their minds),” he said.
Go said he would propose measures that would improve the healthcare system through the expansion and institutionalization of Malasakit Centers.
If I get lucky, I plan to put into law the Malasakit Center so that it will exist in every province even after the term of President Duterte), he said.
The Malasakit Center is a one-stop-shop health hub where the poor can seek medical aid.
