PH Navy decommissions BRP Salting after 22 years of service

THE Philippine Navy has decommissioned one of its Tomas Batillo-class fast attacks after more than 22 years of service.

Vice Admiral Robert Empedrad, Philippine Navy chief led the decommissioning ceremony of BRP Bienvenido Salting (PC-112). Also present were Rear Admiral Danilo Rodelas, commander of the Philippine Fleet; and Capt. Rey dela Cruz, commander of the Littoral Combat Force.

Commander Oliver Comedoy was the last commanding officer of BRP Salting and gave the final command to haul down the flag and the ship’s commission pennant signifying the final salute to the ship.

Retired vice admiral Alexander Pama led the group of former skippers of the ship, who also attended the ceremony. DEMPSEY REYES
