BIFF gunman killed in clash with MILF
CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao: A gunman of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighter (BIFF) under the Hassan Indal of Karialan faction was killed in a clash on Thursday with Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (BIAF-MILF) in Barangay Pimbalakan, Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
Maj. John Arvin Encinas, spokesman for the 6th Infantry Division (6th ID), on Friday said the firefight lasted for about six hours from 5 to 11 a.m. while the MILF troops were conducting security operations in Sitio Makalag.
Encinas said the BIFF later withdrew towards Barangay Inidalan in Shariff Saydona Mustapha town, also in Maguindanao, using a motorized pump boat while others fled the encounter area on foot.
He identified the slain BIFF member as Saudi Sabang but no one was hurt on the MILF side.
Maj. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, Joint Task Force Central (JTF) commander, said the MILF is determined to eradicate the spoilers of peace and prevent the group from carrying out terror campaigns in Central Mindanao.
The continued support of the community, complement the JTF’s relentless efforts to counter the radical extremist groups’ sowing of fear and violence, Sobejana added.
