Sept. 30 to Oct. 4: Sinanggiyaw Festival
Residents in the town of Dumanjug in Cebu province give thanks for the abundant harvest of agricultural products through street dancing.
The festival name is a portmanteau of Cebuano words—“sinanggi” meaning abundance of harvest and “sayaw” meaning dance.
Activities include a novena Mass, senior citizens day, agri fair, field demonstration and cheer dance competition.
Sept. 30 to Oct. 27: Zamboanga Hermosa Festival
Also known as Fiesta Pilar, Zamboanga Hermosa Festival is one of the oldest and grandest festivals in Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur province.
The monthlong celebration is held in honor of the city’s patroness, Nuestra Señora La Virgen del Pilar.
To kick off the festivities, a parade of lights, art exhibit, food fiesta and sports competitions will be held.
Oct. 2 to 4: Kawayanan Festival
A religious festival in Meycauayan, Bulacan province, that pays homage to the town’s patron, St. Francis of Assisi, also the patron saint of animals and the environment.
Part of the activities are a concelebrated Mass, procession and blessing of animals.
