Maynilad water interruption to last until Tuesday
CUSTOMERS in many parts of Metro Manila are experiencing water service interruption until Tuesday because of limited supply, Maynilad Water Services, Inc. announced on Sunday.
“To optimize the limited supply, we are constrained to implement service interruptions daily, starting from Sept. 16, 2018 (Sunday) until Sept. 18, 2018 (Tuesday),” Maynilad said in its Facebook post.
The West Zone concessionaire was prompted to reduce its water production at its treatment plants due to the heavy rainfall caused by Typhoon Ompong (international name: Mangkhut), which increased the turbidity of the raw water coming from Ipo Dam.
Turbidity refers to the increased sediment concentrations in raw water.

“The specific areas that may be affected (as well as the duration of the service interruptions per area) will vary on a daily basis, depending on the level of turbidity in the raw water coming from Ipo Dam,” Maynilad said.
Prior to the announcement, some Maynilad customers experienced emergency service interruptions. The company has deployed 47 water tankers to deliver water to these affected areas. JORDEENE LAGARE
