Totally unacceptable: Robredo belies Albayalde’s claim on Naga’s crime ranking
Vice President Leni Robredo finally broke her silence and refuted Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Oscar Albayalde’s claim that Naga City is the fifth city outside Metro Manila with the highest crime rate in the Philippines.
“Totally unacceptable. Spare our people and our beloved city from misinformation,” Robredo said in a twitter post.

Albayalde earlier claimed that Naga City, Robredo’s hometown and bailiwick where his husband former Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo served as mayor, was among the cities with the highest crime volume in the country.
In a separate tweet, the Vice President said: “PNP Chief claims Naga consistently ranked 5th in crime volume all over the country. The truth: Murder-34th; Homicide -24th-26th; Rape-29th; Robbery-11th; Theft-6th.”

Albayalde’s statements came after reports that he debunked President Rodrigo Duterte’s assertion that Naga City was a “hotbed” for shabu.
Robredo lambasted Duterte’s claim, describing it as a “slap in the face” to officials who exerted “efforts to rid the city of illegal drugs.”
The Naga City council also cried foul and filed a Resolution of Indignation to denounce Duterte’s allegation.
Meanwhile, data from the Crime Research and Analysis Center of the PNP Directorate for Investigation and Detection Management revealed that Naga had a 273.83 average monthly crime rate. /jpv
