2 suspects dead, cop hurt in Batangas buy-bust
SAN PEDRO CITY – Two suspected drug pushers were killed in a police operation in Lipa City in Batangas province on Saturday morning.
The suspects were identified as Erwin Ramirez, alias “Mulawin,” and Ezekiel Reyes. A third suspect, who police failed to identify, had escaped.
A report from the regional police said authorities conducted a buy-bust operation around 2 a.m. in Barangay (village) Inosluban.
During the sale of the illegal drug, Llamarez and Reyes allegedly drew out their guns and began shooting. They hit Police Officer 3 Alexis Mendoza on his foot, prompting the other policemen to shoot the suspects back, the police claimed.
Both suspects were taken to the Metro Lipa Medical Center but died on the way.
The police recovered about a kilogram of suspected marijuana leaves and 10 grams of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth). They also found two .45 caliber guns from the scene. MARICAR CINCO
