Los Baños’ top drug suspect slain in buy-bust
SAN PEDRO CITY – A suspected illegal drug pusher was killed in a shootout with the police in Los Baños town in Laguna province, authorities said Friday.
A report from the regional police said the slain suspect, Joel Buarao, alias “JB,” was the top illegal drug personality wanted by the police in Los Baños and ranked seventh at the provincial level.
Members of the provincial police intelligence unit conducted the buy-bust operation around 7 a.m. Thursday in Barangay (village) Bambang.
Buarao allegedly sold undercover policemen a sachet of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth).
Buarao reportedly opened fire and was killed when police shot back in self-defense, the report said. MARICAR CINCO
