2 LPAs spotted inside PH, monsoon rains to persist over Southern Luzon, Visayas—Pagasa

TWO low pressure areas (LPAs) were spotted inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday as monsoon rains were forecast over Southern Luzon and Visayas, the state-run weather bureau said.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), an LPA was spotted 615 kilometers (km) west of Subic, Zambales.

“This weather disturbance is not expected to intensify into a storm and directly affect the country,” weather specialist Meno Mendoza said.

The other LPA 1,280 east of Tuguegarao, Cagayan may turn into a tropical depression but Pagasa still has yet to see if it would make landfall in any part of the Philippines.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon or “habagat” will bring cloudy skies with isolated rains and thunderstorms over Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mimaropa, and Western Visayas.

It will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Bicol region, the rest of Calabarzon, Central Luzon and Visayas.

Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan make up Mimaropa while Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon make up Calabarzon.

Mindanao and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers because of localized thunderstorms, Pagasa said.
