Police validating watchlist on celebrities linked to drugs for ‘appropriate action,’ says Metro police chief
A WATCHLIST of celebrities linked to illegal drugs is being validated and evidence being gathered so that “appropriate police operations” can be conducted, Metro Manila Police Chief Guillermo Eleazar said on Friday.
Eleazar said the list contained the names of actors and actresses, some of them high-profile celebrities, whom he didn’t name.
“We keep on conducting case build-up so eventually, if we have leads against them, we can do police action,” Eleazar told a press briefing at his headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City.
However, Eleazar said the list was still considered a guide and was not final.
Eleazar’s disclosure came after former child star CJ Ramos was arrested for drug possession.
Eleazar said that Ramos was not part of the watchlist.
Other celebrities who were arrested for drug offenses under the Duterte administration were actors Julio Diaz, Cogie Domingo, and Mark Anthony Fernandez; actress Krista Miller; and DJ Karen Borador. ROY NARRA
