Police give out free ‘clean rider’ stickers to motorcycle owners as deterrent to crime
AS a deterrent to motorcycle-riding criminals, the Philippine National Police (PNP) distributed free “clean rider” stickers that will contain information about the rider and security features for his or her protection.
The stickers, which were given out starting today, Wednesday, bears the residence of the owner of the motorcycle and a code that could only be matched by police to the registered owner.
Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde said the sticker was tamper-free could not be duplicated easily because there was the only manufacturer.
The acceptance of these stickers is voluntary but, Albayalde said, “it will give us an idea now on why you don’t want to register…”
“We can also separate or segregate motorists who have stickers and from those who don’t so that we can have a more efficient way of inspecting and categorizing them,” Albayalde said in a mix of English and Tagalog.
The stickers are available at the city and municipal police offices and stations. ROY NARRA
