Manila Police District cops to undergo drug test

The Manila Police District (MPD) on Tuesday announced that its members will take a drug test as part of its internal cleansing campaign.

The goal is to cleanse its ranks, particularly the Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET), and to ensure that no one is involved in any activities related to illegal drugs, the MPD said.

It also said that the test is meant to assure the public that its members adhere to its commitment to serve and protect its community against illegal drugs.

The MPD, through its Director Chief Supt. Rolando Anduyan, made the announcement after joint operatives of SDET and Smokey Mountain Police Community Precinct killed a drug suspect in a buy-bust operation. /ee
