Southwest monsoon to affect Luzon, Visayas—Pagasa
THE southwest monsoon or “habagat” will continue to affect Luzon and the Visayas on Tuesday, the state-run weather bureau said.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro and Palawan will experience monsoon rains with possible flooding and landslides because of moderate to at times heavy rains.
Occasional rains will prevail over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, rest of Central Luzon, and Western Visayas, because of the southwest monsoon.
The rest of Luzon and the Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.
Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers caused by localized thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, a low pressure area (LPA) was seen 1,555 kilometers east of northern Luzon.
“We are not ruling out the possibility that within 24 to 48 hours, it may turn into a tropical depression,” weather specialist Chris Perez said.
He added that the LPA may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in two to three days. GLEE JALEA
