DPWH: Iloilo bridge to be done in Aug
THE P161-million Aganan bridge that will connect two municipalities in Iloilo province is expected to be completed next month, the Department of PublicWorks and Highways (DPWH) announced on Thursday.
“If [the]weather permits, the public will be able to utilize this bridge by August 2018,” Public Works Region 6 Director Wenceslao M. Leaño Jr. said in a statement.
“This will provide [a]vital link to the towns of Maasin and Alimodian, providing access to Iloilo City and other towns in central Iloilo,” he added.
The 191.8-linear meter bridge would allow residents to cross the river and bring commodities to the market without waiting for the river’s water level to recede during the rainy season.
It would also allow visitors reach tourist destinations in Alimodian and neighboring towns.
The bridge will have two lanes and six spans, as well as a sidewalk, railings and slope protection.
