Anti-Corruption Commission to probe Bello
THE Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission will investigate Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello 3rd amid allegations of corruption by a so-called movement for change, an official told The Manila Times on Wednesday.
Commissioner Manuelito Luna, in a text message, said the commission took cognizance of the “seriousness of the allegations made against Bello” as contained in a complaint filed by Monalie Dizon, secretary-general of the Kilusang Pagbabago National Movement for Change, and in the “public interest.”
“The complaint will undergo investigation and certain personalities might be summoned to help the Commissioner uncover the truth,” Luna said.
Bello has been linked to an alleged P6.8-million extortion case involving the Azzizah International Manpower Services.
Luna said that another official would be investigated but did not identify him.
On October 4, 2016, Duterte signed Executive Order 43 creating the PACC, which would have the power, “concurrently with the Office of the Ombudsman,” to investigate the administrative cases of presidential appointees in the Executive branch.
