Monsoon rains to persist in Luzon, Visayas this week—Pagasa
TYPHOON “Domeng” may have left Philippine territory, but it would
continue to spawn monsoon rains over Luzon and Visayas this week, the state-run weather bureau said.
“Typhoon Domeng exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Sunday but it will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon or ‘habagat’,” weather specialist Shelly Ignacio said.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the whole of Luzon will experience moderate to occasionally heavy rains because of the southwest monsoon which could lead to possible flooding or landslides.
The southwest monsoon will also bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms over Western Visayas, which could lead to possible flooding in low-lying areas.
Mindanao and the rest of Visayas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers because of localized thunderstorms.
The continued inclement weather prompted tghe suspension of classes in most of Metro Manila and in some parts of Luzon on Monday.
