SWAT member shoots at cops arresting partner in buy-bust

LUCENA CITY – A member of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team of the Lucena City Police Station was nabbed after he fired at a group police officers who were arresting a suspected drug pusher who turned out to be his live-in partner in Pagbilao town on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Pagbilao Municipal Police Station, local anti-illegal drugs operatives and Lucena police officers collared Marvy Lee Miralles after she sold P500 worth of crystal meth (shabu, to a police poseur buyer in Barangay Sta. Catalina around 2:50 p.m.

As the lawmen were placing Miralles inside a civilian vehicle to bring her to the police station, PO1 Hezri Jarder, who was armed with a rifle, suddenly came out and fired at the arresting police officers.

“But he missed the policemen and instead slightly hit Miralles,” Chief Insp. Rizaldy Merene, Pagbilao police chief, said in a phone interview.

The officers returned fire but missed Jarder who was subsequently arrested.

Merene said Miralles is allegedly the live-in partner of Jarder.

Authorities seized three plastic sachets of shabu weighing 1.64 grams worth P3,034 from Miralles. /atm
