Palace: Security measures in place for smooth opening of classes

“The opening of classes nationwide has been so far smooth,” Malacañang said on Monday, as the country welcomed 27 million students back to school on June 4.

In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the school opening went smoothly because security measures were in place.

“The Department of Education, together with its partners, through Brigada Eskwela have prepared the schools, making sure they are safe, clean and ready to receive our students,” he said.

“Public assistance and information centers have been activated in the central office, regional and division office and schools to respond to issues and challenges in today’s school opening,” he added.

The Philippine National Police, he said, on “has ensured a zero-crime incident outside the vicinity of schools through its “Ligtas Balik Eskwela 2018.” /vvp
