2 brothers dead in Antipolo shoot-out

SAN PEDRO CITY – Two brothers, allegedly involved in criminal activities in Antipolo City, were killed after resisting a police search in Rizal province on Saturday.

Calabarzon police spokesperson Supt. Chitadel Gaoiran named the slain suspects as Nelson and Manuel Rubio.

According to the report, the police implemented a search warrant for violation of the firearms law into the Rubios’ residence in Barangay (village) San Isidro at 7:45 a.m. The suspects resisted arrest by firing at the authorities, prompting the shootout.

The Rubio brothers were earlier charged with murder and were involved in robbery hold-up in the city, according to Antipolo police chief Supt. Serafin Petallo in a phone interview.

He said an investigation was ongoing. MARICAR CINCO
