Man in Tarlac nabbed for blackmailing ex-partner with explicit videos

MANILA, Philippines — A man in Tarlac City was arrested for blackmailing his female ex-partner with their explicit videos, the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP ACG) reported on Thursday.

The ACG said the suspect was arrested in Barangay Culipat at 3:15 p.m. on Feb. 11.

According to the ACG, the victim met the suspect at their place of work in 2023 and engaged in a relationship, living together for a year.

However, in January 2025, the victim decided to separate from the suspect, who then began to threaten her that he would spread videos of their intimate moments caught on a closed-circuit television camera in their home.

The suspect also threatened the life of the female’s previous partner, ACG spokesperson Lt. Wallen Arancillo said in an interview with reporters in Camp Crame on Thursday.

“The suspect became rather obsessed. That’s why he was able to do this illegal online activity,” Arancillo explained.

“During the operation, the suspect was struggling. Our operatives had a hard time arresting him,” she added.

The suspect faces complaints for grave coercion and robbery with intimidation of persons as well as violations of the Anti-Violence against Women and their Children and the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Acts in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Law.
