Dinagat Islands sends 19 workers to Hungary

BUTUAN CITY — The Dinagat Islands provincial government sent 19 seasonal workers to Hungary on Monday.

“This is the second batch of workers we sent to Hungary this year,” Governor Nilo Demerey Jr. said Tuesday. “The first was on Jan. 31 with 26 seasonal workers.”

The workers participated in the Seasonal Workers Program (SWP) through the Dinagat Islands Migrant Workers Office.

“The SPW aims to give opportunities to Dinagat residents who wish to work abroad,” Demerey said.

Most of the workers who flew to Hungary this year participated in a 2024 jobs fair.

The workers have two-year contracts, which can be extended for a year.
