Bicol records 6 firecracker-related injuries on Christmas Day

LEGAZPI CITY — The Department of Health (DOH) in the Bicol region said on Thursday (Dec. 26) that it recorded six firecracker-related injuries during Christmas Day celebrations.

In the Firework-Related Injury (FWRI) Surveillance, DOH Bicol said four of the victims were injured by an improvised canon, one with 5-star and another with a whistle bomb on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24) and Christmas Day (Dec. 25).

The agency reported that five of the victims were minors from the Albay and Camarines Sur provinces.

In the last FWRI monitoring, the agency recorded 49 cases, mostly caused by kwitis, improvised canon, and 5-star.
