Over 7,600 passengers stranded in ports due to Storm Kristine
MANILA, Philippines — A total of 7,674 passengers were stranded in ports nationwide as of Thursday noon due to the effects of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami), the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) said.
According to the PPA, stranded passengers monitored across port management offices are as follows:
- Bicol – 2,959
- Eastern Leyte and Samar – 2,613
- Surigao – 498
- Panay and Guimaras – 346
- Marinduque and Quezon – 265
- Negros Occidental and Bacolod – 245
- Batangas – 226
- Agusan – 196
- Metro Manila – 153
- Negros Oriental and Siquijor – 87
- Western Leyte and Biliran – 31
- Mindoro – 30
- Misamis Occidental and Ozamis – 18
- Masbate – 7

“The PPA urges travelers to check with their shipping lines before heading to ports to avoid further inconvenience,” the agency said in Filipino in an advisory.
Based on the state weather bureau’s typhoon bulletin, Kristine was last located over the coastal waters of Southern Ilocos Sur as of 1 p.m, bringing rain and strong winds to the majority of Luzon.

Signal No. 3 is currently raised over four areas, while Signal No. 2 is up in 24 areas in Luzon.
Kristine is forecast to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Friday afternoon. Stefani Tacugue, INQUIRER.net trainee
