The summer transfer window is open in England with more countries soon to follow suit, and there is plenty of gossip swirling around. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings, goings and, of course, done deals!
Chelsea have discussed the idea of including Nicolas Jackson in a deal to sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, according to The Sun.
The Blues have already enquired about the availability of Isak, 24, who is valued by the Magpies at over £100 million — a fee that makes a deal unlikely unless a player also moves the other way. Despite enduring turbulent times in his first season at Stamford Bridge, Jackson scored 17 goals across all competitions and the is now considered an important player for the club’s future. Even so, the 23-year-old could be used as part of a deal if the opportunity arises to bring Isak to Stamford Bridge.
Newcastle don’t want to let such an important player leave, despite their issues around profit and sustainability rules, and it is reported that manager Eddie Howe would prefer to let Isak’s strike partner Callum Wilson depart this summer instead.
In other Chelsea-related news, Fabrizio Romano says that talks between the London club and Leicester City regarding Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are ongoing. Chelsea are pushing for at least one player to be included in the deal, while the 25-year-old has given a potential move the green light and is now waiting.
There is also a report from The Athletic that Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Atlanta United left-back Caleb Wiley. It has been added that the 19-year-old — who is part of United States‘ pre-Olympic roster — will likely head to the Blues’ sister club, Strasbourg, if a transfer occurs.
– Paris Saint-Germain are willing to offer €250m for Lamine Yamal, but Barcelona are still not willing to entertain the idea of letting the winger leave, as reported by Mundo Deportivo. The 16-year-old has a release clause that is worth €1,000m.
– Versatile Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich is keen to join Manchester City as he wants to team up with Pep Guardiola again, claims The Sun, with the 29-year-old’s decision not being impacted by the fact that the manager could leave the Etihad in a year. This also comes despite interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool.
– Khvicha Kvaratskhelia wants to join Paris Saint-Germain, but Napoli are unwilling to let the 23-year-old winger leave, especially as he has a contract that runs until 2027, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. The same outlet has reported on Victor Osimhen‘s situation, which is the complete opposite as Napoli are ready for the 25-year-old striker’s departure but haven’t received any offers yet.
– Wellington Phoenix star Ben Old looks set to join Ligue 1 sleeping giants Saint-Etienne, according to the New Zealand Herald. The 21-year-old midfielder starred for Giancarlo Italiano’s side as they marched to second place in the A-League Men last season and will become one of the first signings of a new era at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard. Les Verts were taken over by Kilmer Sports Ventures — the company that owns Toronto FC (MLS), the Toronto Raptors (NBA) and the Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL) — in early June, and have installed former Arsenal and AC Milan chief executive Ivan Gazidis as club president.
– Manchester United have started talks regarding Bayern Munich centre-back Matthijs de Ligt on the player’s side, reports Sky Sports Deutschland. The Red Devils have been gathering information on the 24-year-old in recent days as he can leave Bayern if there is a suitable offer, while De Ligt is open to an Old Trafford move and wants to speak to Bayern after the Euros.
– Mary Earps has left Manchester United following the expiration of her contract and the goalkeeper is now set to join Paris Saint-Germain, according to Sky Sports. The French club had already shown an interest in the 31-year-old during the winter window.
