World Refugee Day, falling on June 20 every year, celebrates the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution.

This year, the Career Foundation is hosting an inspiring day of keynote speeches, interactive panel discussions and valuable networking opportunities for refugees. The Journey of Resilience: Refugee Narratives event seeks to create a space for refugees to connect, share experiences and gain insights in various areas.

Event details

Date: June 20, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Location: Toronto Metro Hall

At the heart of the event is a panel discussion focusing on the experiences and journeys of refugees. Esteemed speakers will share their insights, challenges, and triumphs, offering invaluable perspectives on refugee integration and overcoming barriers to starting a new life.

A wide range of topics are on the agenda. Discussions will cover the following areas: Accessing healthcare services and resources; Navigating legal rights and protections as a refugee; Exploring educational opportunities and resources; Employment opportunities and job search strategies; and Housing options and navigating the rental market.

A number of exhibitors, including TVO, RBC, WES Gateway, Toronto District School Board (TDSB), Ellis Don and Canadian Immigrant, will showcase resources offered in the community to support refugees.
