The summer transfer window won’t reopen in Europe for a while yet, but there are plenty of moves in the works and gossip is swirling around. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings, goings and, of course, done deals!

Liverpool are interested in making Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon one of the first signings of their post-Jurgen Klopp era, says The Daily Star.

The 23-year-old’s consistently impressive performances for Eddie Howe’s side have seen him earn a first call-up for Gareth Southgate’s England squad and could also see him go to the European Championship. It appears that those displays have also caught the Reds’ attention, although the Magpies don’t want to let Gordon leave having signed him from Everton for £45 million last August.

Even so, Newcastle are expected to offload one or two of their leading players during the transfer window to ensure they stay within the Financial Fair Play rules. Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimarães have already been linked with big money moves away from St. James’ Park, so talk about Gordon will be unwelcome for Howe as the winger has recorded 10 goals and 10 assists in the Premier League this term. It’s thought that it would take close to £100m for Newcastle’s resolve to be seriously tested, and it is currently unknown whether Liverpool would be willing to go that high.

The Magpies sit sixth in the Premier League table and appear likely to play European football again next season, which should help their efforts to keep Gordon.

AC Milan have been heavily linked with a move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko and La Gazzetta dello Sport have now suggested that the 20-year-old is also keen to join them. Milan are willing to spend €50m on the Slovenia international and remain confident that they will be able to reach an agreement with Die Roten Bullen.

Barcelona are interested in Villarreal winger Álex Baena but will struggle to afford him, reports Diario Sport, which adds that this comes despite the Yellow Submarine being willing to negotiate Baena’s release clause from €55m-€60m down to €40m-€45m. The Blaugrana could try to work their way around the issue by including a youth player in their offer for the 22-year-old.

Juventus face competition from AC Milan, Napoli, Bayer Leverkusen and Tottenham Hotspur for Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori, reports Tuttosport, which says that the Serie A club — who have qualified for the Champions League — want €25m having signed the 21-year-old for €4m plus 40% of the fee from his next move. Juventus could include Tommaso Barbieri, Hans Nicolussi Caviglia or a loan for Tiago Djaló to make sure they get him.

Sevilla are among the clubs seriously considering a summer move for Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto, according to Rudy Galetti, who adds that the Serie A club won’t be lowering their demands despite the 31-year-old’s uncertain future. Clubs from Qatar and Saudi Arabia are also reportedly trying to sign the Spaniard.

– Everton, Brighton & Hove Albion, Internazionale and VfL Wolfsburg are all looking at AZ Alkmaar right-back Yukinari Sugawara, according to Florian Plettenberg. A move is likely for the 23-year-old with his contract ending in 2025 and AZ aiming to bring in around €6m for him.
