DSWD extends aid to Puerto Princesa fire victims
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Tuesday said that it had extended aid to families displaced by a fire in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
DSWD Assistant Secretary Romel Lopez said the DSWD field office distributed 200 family food packs, as well as 200 sanitary kits and other non-food items to the affected families.
“The distribution of aid is being carried out to ensure that essential supplies reach those affected as quickly as possible,” Lopez said.
The DSWD said that 198 families or 926 individuals, were affected.
Temporarily shelters were also being prepared, the DSWD added.
According to reports, the fire broke out at around 2:25 a.m. on Wednesday and was extinguished around 8:10 a.m.
The cause of the fire is still being determined, authorities said.
