Teachers to start revised K-10 curriculum training this week

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) will start training teachers this week for the rollout of the revised K-10 “Matatag” curriculum in the coming school year.
Teachers handling Kindergarten, Grade 1, 4 and 7 students would be the ones subjected to training until the end of this school year in preparation for the phased implementation of the Matatag curriculum, DepEd Assistant Secretary Francis Bringas said over the weekend.
Currently, the revised curriculum is being pilot-tested in 35 schools nationwide.
Bringas said this also serves as a way for DepEd to research how to “better and seamlessly implement the revised curriculum this coming school year.”
After the pilot tests, the new curriculum would be implemented in phases, first in preschool and Grades 1, 4 and 7 in all public and private schools starting school year 2024-2025; Grades 2, 5 and 8 in SY 2025-2026; Grades 3, 7 and 8 in SY 2026-2027 and Grade 10 in SY 2027-2028.
Benchmarked on the “decongestion” of learning competencies, the Matatag curriculum intends to improve students’ learning outcomes and help them succeed.
