Aga Muhlach, Angel Locsin, Bong Revilla, Lani Mercado remember Ethel Ramos

MANILA, Philippines — Ethel Ramos’ death was mourned by Aga Muhlach, Angel Locsin, Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, and Lani Mercado — as they were among the personalities who crossed paths with the late entertainment columnist and talent manager at some point in their careers.

Ramos died at the age of 87 last Sept. 10, which was confirmed by her niece Farah on Facebook. The cause of death has yet to be revealed.

Muhlach took to his Instagram account on Monday, Sept. 11 to express his love for his “Tita Ethel,” who served as his talent manager, while thanking her for the “love, laughter, arguments, stories, dreams, and hard work” for the past “30 years.”

“I will miss you. I am forever grateful to you and what you’ve done for me. We’ve talked about death so many times that we both know we are ready. Lahat naman tayo dadating diyan. So much more to say but I’ll just leave it at this. Mahal ka naming lahat na tinulungan at minahal mo. Habambuhay ka sa puso ko (The people whom you helped and loved love you. Forever),” his caption read.

The actor then asked Ramos to “not worry about him” as he can bear with the pain of her death.

“Pls pray for us na naiiwan pa dito (who are left here). Rest in eternal peace dearest tita Ethel. I love you very much. Don’t worry about me, you’ve taught me so much in life,” he wrote. “We’ll be just fine. Hurt, sad but kaya ‘to (we can handle this). Again, rest in peace . You are with our creator now [praying emoji] Your son, Aga. Ang Dami konpa gusto sabihin (I still want to say a lot of things).”

Meanwhile, Locsin took a trip down memory lane as she shared photos of herself during her early days in showbiz, where she was accompanied by Ramos.

“Rest in Peace, Manay Ethel [praying emoji] Manay Ethel was the Dean of Entertainment Writers. For a long time, she also served as Angel’s manager. Maraming Salamat (thank you very much), Manay,” she said.

Revilla said on Facebook the talent manager’s death is “very painful” as Ramos reminds him of his mother.

“Tayo po ay nagluluksa sa pagpanaw ng isa sa ating pinakamamahal at pinagkakautangan ng napakalaking utang na loob – Manay Ethel Ramos. Napakasakit Manay. Para akong nawalan ulit ng isang ina, dahil isa ka sa tumayong nanay ko sa aking pag-aartista,” he said.

The actor-turned-politician also thanked Ramos for her “guidance” since he started his entertainment career.

“Maraming salamat sa iyong pagmamahal at paggabay mula sa aking pagkabata hanggang sa ngayong iyong pamamaalam. We love you Manay Ethel. Pahinga ka na (Thank you very much for your love and guidance since my childhood until your final days. We love you Manay Ethel. You can rest now). Say hi to Mommy and Daddy for me,” his post read.

On the other hand, Cavite 2nd district rep. Lani Mercado-Revilla shared on Facebook that the entertainment columnist and the late Ricky Lo were behind her screen name.

“Loved by producers and respected in the industry, she also acted as the manager of Aga Muhlach. On a personal note, Manay Ethel is also godmother to my son Jolo Revilla and helped my husband Bong Revilla in several of his movies and Imus Productions,” she said. “She is one of the few people who has been with our family through our ups and downs. We will miss you, Manay Ethel.”

Known as the “Dean of Entertainment Writers,” Ramos’ wake will be held at the Nacional Chapels and Crematory in Quezon City from Sept. 11 to 13. Her remains will be cremated on Sept. 14 at around 12 noon.
