Muskoka Steamships & Discovery Centre tells the story of Muskoka through incredible cruises on their historic ships and through interactive and dynamic exhibits at the Muskoka Discovery Centre. With a history reaching back to 1866 to when it was the Muskoka Lakes Navigation and Hotel Company, the organization now welcomes thousands of visitors from around the world to Muskoka to experience the beautiful scenery, pristine lakes, and wilderness. The Muskoka Discovery Centre is also in the midst of adding a whole new 12,000 square foot exhibit area and boathouse which will house three new permanent exhibits including “Misko-Aki Confluence of Cultures” an exhibit dedicated to telling the Indigenous story of Muskoka which is being designed and curated by an incredible Indigenous team, and “Evolving Muskoka: Life on the edge of the shield” which will tell the complex story of Muskoka and how it has become what it is today. The final exhibit will be a fully restored and electrified Wanda III steam yacht, which will sit in a new boathouse located in the new building. This 107-year-old ship is currently being restored and converted to electric power so it can once again cruise the Muskoka Lakes.
