Rainy Sunday in parts of Mindanao due to LPA, ITCZ; fair weather in rest of PH
MANILA, Philippines — Parts of Mindanao are expected to have overcast skies and rainy Sunday weather due to the combined effects of the low-pressure area (LPA) and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In its Saturday bulletin, Pagasa said the low-pressure area was located 695 kilometers east of Guian, Eastern Samar.
Due to the combined effects of the LPA embedded in the ITCZ, the Davao Region and Soccsksargen (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City) will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, according to Pagasa.
The areas not mentioned are expected to have fair weather conditions with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
Pagasa weather specialist Raymond Ordinario said the LPA has a low chance of becoming a typhoon “in the coming days.”
The state weather bureau also did not raise gale warnings to any seaboards nationwide, according to Ordinario.
