Personal revelations from Kate Valdez, Paul Salas and Jana Francine Taladro
Have you ever wondered what some of your favorite Kapuso actors and Regal Babies would answer when asked hypothetical questions that may have never been asked of them before? Well, I got the answers here from them, simply because I got to ask them the questions I composed. This time I got to exclusively interview Kate Valdez, Paul Salas and Jana Francine Taladro.
This is a chance for everyone to see the “real them” behind the scenes and off the bright lights of showbiz. Exactly what is in their hearts and thoughts and how they would handle certain situations. Nope! This is not a tell-all. But it sure will give you some insight into their real lives and we can’t ask for more.
For the newest episode of “Regal Studio Presents” entitled “Open Minded,” we have the best young natural kontrabida actress in Kate Valdez. We have one of the best-looking young actors with promise in terms of acting in Paul Salas. And lastly, we have the newest, prettiest, most potential-filled Regal Baby in Jana Francine Taladro, fresh from the success of the “Raya Sirena’ miniseries that recently concluded on GMA Network. What a special group this is, I have to say, with the three of them combined. Be sure to watch their episode of “Regal Studio Presents” entitled “Open Minded” today, at 4:35 p.m. at GMA Network. Below are their answers to my questions.
We always hear the saying, “A friend in need is a friend indeed.” But what material possessions will you never lend or give a friend? Can you name some of them? What excuse or reason do you give your friend when you refuse to lend or give those stuff?
Kate Valdez: For me, there is no problem. I am willing to give it [if] he or she may need it. But I am always cautious. I need to ask and know where the money will go, and what is the purpose. If I am able to determine that the money will only lead to the other person’s harm, and therefore, consequently to my harm too, I will not help. Because to help will only mean I only would have tolerated and helped bring harm to the other person
Paul Salas: I am a giving person. I believe in the saying that I will give if I feel it in my heart, and in my gut, to do so. For instance, if someone asks me for money or anything, I will give it. It’s a no-brainer for me. I will help if I am able to help. I don’t judge people on how they will use the money. At the same time, I will pray that God will guide them to use the money properly. On my end, my purpose is to be of help. But I will refuse if my gut tells me the money will be used for the wrong reasons. I will be straightforward and tell them I cannot help, sorry.
Jana Francine Taladro: Well, I believe there is nothing wrong with helping the less fortunate. If a friend were to ask for my help, maybe I will help. But my feeling would be similar to that of Kate’s in that I would ask the person first where and how he would use the money. Kate is correct on that. If my help will only lead to harm’s way for my friend, I will not want that to happen.
What would you do if you had the opportunity to have any of your wishes granted? What wish of yours would you want to become a reality?
Kate Valdez: Well, this suddenly popped in my head when sir Joseph said it can be supernatural. So let us go the supernatural route. Because a lot of things we want now, we can work for them. I believe my wish has to be [being] able to breathe underwater. It is because I am afraid of swimming deep underwater. But now that I have learned free diving, I am thinking it would be so much more enjoyable if I can stay longer underwater and breathe as well. For sure, I won’t be needing oxygen. So, I think if that would happen? Then, wow! Okay! It’s going to be a huge massive wish for me to happen.
Paul Salas: My first wish is for my career. I wish to be in coming movies or on television series in other countries like Korea and Hollywood. That’s really one of my wishes for my career. And what will I do about that wish? I will work really hard for it. Now, my wish for my personal life because I am getting older, is happiness. To have three, four sons. To be successful in the future. Also, when I say happiness… well, happiness is a choice. So I would wish for happiness until I am old.
Jana Francine Taladro: My first wish would be for myself and for my family. It would be a simple wish. For me, I would want to learn more things, to try other things that I have not tried, grow more as an artist, and apply these things I have learned over time in my craft as an artist because I believe all of these things I have learned will aid me greatly in my growth. For my family? I wish my parents would be given a long life. That is what I always pray for every night. When it comes to the supernatural? I want to be able to fly like Peter Pan. I want to experience that and go to all the places I haven’t been to. For example, beaches I have not been able to visit yet. I don’t know, but I want to feel absolutely free. Yes, to be Peter Pan. There, I definitely want that, which is to be a Peter Pan when it comes to the supernatural.
If you had infinite money, what would you buy first? What kind of lifestyle will you have?
Kate Valdez: For the first question, if I had infinite money? What would I buy first? I guess it would be properties because they are investments. At the same time, I would also help the people in need. For whatever it may be, as long as the person needs it. And then my lifestyle would be simple. Almost like a provincial life. I want a good view, fresh air and not a lot of neighbors. In short, a quiet life. And then, of course, my needs will be met there already.
Paul Salas: What would I buy first? A house. Then, a yacht. But the lifestyle I will have is not to be a show off with too many expensive material things even if I had all the money in the world. I want a quiet life with my loved ones in a huge house I have bought far away. And then because I have infinite money already, I will help those in need. I believe that is the purpose also that God will give me in this world. That is also the [reason] I created my [vlog], in order that I will be able to help my supporters [and] subscribers. Ultimately, that is the direction I would want my life to take me.
Jana Francine Taladro: A house would be the first thing I will buy. Because it would be for me and my family. We will not have a hard time anymore in paying for rent and transferring and stuff like that. When I have infinite money, the house would be the first on my list and maybe, it would be the same with Paul and Kate I would help all people that are struggling. Actually, the whole world I would want to help if it were possible only. And that would be it. And the last would be a private plane.
Pretend we belong to the animal kingdom. What animal will you be? Why is that your choice?
Kate Valdez: I think cheetah. Because I just want to feel and experience how they can run and no one can catch them. Of course, they are in the jungle. I want to live the wild life.
Paul Salas: Tiger! Tiger! I’m [from] the year of the tiger. And I like that animal because there is that quality of being a leader. And there is toughness. But despite being a tiger, there is that chance that you can still pet it. You know what I mean. Tiger is the first thing that entered my mind.
Jana Francine Taladro: Octopus. Because that animal is the smartest in the ocean. And I want to explore a lot of parts of the ocean because I am not that good of a swimmer. So I want to explore. And the octopus is the smartest animal in the ocean. So I choose to be an octopus.
What is your most memorable experience while taping this episode for “Regal Studio Presents” entitled “Open Minded”?
Kate Valdez: Actually, what Paul said. It is because we are often asked questions by director Bobby Bonifacio Jr. each time we have a scene. He would ask if there are other things you are thinking that you want to add and that is when we get to practice becoming “thinking actors”; to be smart in each scene that will be shot. And then he also guides all of us in our actions. There was a memorable experience for me… because of how I reacted. Then, director Bobby told me, “Wait. Wait. Don’t do that much! Just enough, just enough only.” That is when I realized I could go with a small reaction only. So, from those moments they have become memorable and I can use all of them in my acting career.
Paul Salas: Maybe, when I was being asked by director Bobby, what [will] be a more enticing line for me to say in the ending. But of course, I can’t say those lines. Actually, we ended up saying so many lines that we ended up laughing at ourselves because we kept having fun, and basically, joking amongst ourselves. So, we ended up thinking of an idea that was fun and inspiring to watch for the viewers and the actors to do. I really enjoyed working with my co-actors and the director here. Especially with [our] director because he was always doing his best to make the scene as best as possible for everyone.
Jana Francine Taladro: What was the most memorable for me were the teachings that director Bobby taught all of us when it comes to emotions and what has to be added to the script. Because the lesson I can learn from that is that I can still apply all of the lessons to my next projects. And for the actors themselves like Paul and Kate, I have learned from them as well when it comes to acting because they are good actors… Another memorable experience I had was I was able to get to work with them, because it was my very first time meeting them, and before, I would only get to see them on television. Now, I got to bond with them, work with them and act with them. It was such a memorable experience for me. I can’t believe it. Thank you, Lord.
