15% of PH’s new COVID-19 cases logged in Metro Manila — OCTA Research

MANILA, Philippines — Fifteen percent of the country’s new COVID-19 cases on Sunday were recorded in Metro Manila, a fellow of the independent analytics group OCTA Research said.

The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday logged 8,361 fresh COVID-19 infections nationwide.

Citing DOH data, OCTA Research fellow Guido David noted that 1,271 of the new cases were recorded in Metro Manila.

“1271 new cases today in the NCR, still within range of expectations, and right in line with our Jan 20 projections (the Jan 20 projections had 1280 cases marked for today). 1271 is 15% of the national number,” he said Twitter.

Quezon City had the most number of new cases in Metro Manila with 222, David said.

The following is the breakdown of new COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila:

Quezon City – 222 new cases

Manila – 201 new cases

Makati – 102 new cases

Parañaque – 98 new cases

Taguig – 97 new cases

Pasay – 84 new cases

Pasig – 77 new cases

Caloocan – 75 new cases

Las Piñas – 69 new cases

Mandaluyong – 56 new cases

Malabon – 37 new cases

Muntinlupa – 36 new cases

Marikina – 33 new cases

Valenzuela – 32 new cases

Navotas – 30 new cases

San Juan – 12 new cases

Pateros – 8 new cases

Currently, the Philippines and Metro Manila are at moderate risk for COVID-19, the DOH said.
