DoT postpones nationwide mall sale over Covid-19 fears

THE Department of Tourism (DoT) on  Saturday postponed the 2020 Philippine Shopping Festival, a nationwide mall sale due to coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) threat.

Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said that the department maintained its stance to prioritize the safety of its citizens more than visitor arrivals and revenue.

She also said that they have coordinated with the mall establishments and was thankful for their support on the decision to postpone the nationwide sale to a later date for the safety of their customers.

The mall sale was set to kick off on Sunday, March 1 and would run until March 31.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque 3rd discouraged the public from going to crowded places to reduce the risk of viral infection.
