Follow along as we look back at the moments that made headlines each day during the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Feb. 24, 2010: With gold medals on back-to-back nights, Team Canada was on a roll heading into Day 13, and there was no slowing the athletes down — especially at the lightning-quick Whistler Sliding Centre. In the two-woman bobsleigh, all eyes were on Great Britain’s team of Nicole Minichiello and Gillian Cooke, the defending world champions, until Team Canada’s bobsledders stole the show and nearly the whole podium along with it.

Canadians Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse capitalized in a big way. The duo were incredible right out of the gate, literally, breaking the start record twice and the track record three times en route to Canada’s third gold in three days. But it didn’t end there: Humphries and Moyse finished just ahead of countrywomen Helen Upperton and Shelley-Ann Brown, who had the fastest time in the final round, leading to Canada’s first gold-silver finish at the Vancouver Olympics.

That same night at Rogers Arena, Team Canada’s star-studded men’s hockey squad finally showed what it was capable of in the quarter-finals, shaking off its slow start in the round robin to hand the rival Russian squad a decisive, 7-3 win. Suddenly, it seemed as though the host nation could do no wrong.
