Two killed in head-on accident on Highway 5 north of Kamloops

The B.C. Ambulance Service has responded to a fatal accident on Highway 5, about an hour north of Kamloops.
The head-on collision between a transport truck and a passenger vehicle happened around noon near the Darlington Creek Forest Service Road in the community of Darfield.
B.C. RCMP say the two occupants of the passenger vehicle died at the scene.
B.C. Emergency Health Services sent two ambulance crews to the scene but no patients were transported to hospital. An air ambulance was also dispatched but later called back.

Hwy. 5 was closed in both directions through Darfield for four hours following the crash.
Police say the cause of the accident is under investigation but weather conditions are being considered as a possible contributing factor due to recent snowfall in the area.
