Additional charges have been announced against a Langley man accused of rental deposit fraud.
In November 2019, Langley RCMP said they were looking into a case of alleged fraud that involved a property listed for rent and asked other victims to come forward.
In the original complaint that sparked the investigation, an individual found a rental property through a classified advertisements website and contacted the supposed owner.
The victim met a man at a local coffee shop and was told the property was tenanted and that once a new tenant was secured, the previous tenants would be evicted. The victim then provided the first month’s rent.
When the victim noticed the property was still listed for rent days later, they realized they had been defrauded and contacted police.
Jordan Lunny, a 37-year-old Langley resident, was arrested and charged with fraud and providing a misleading receipt in late 2019.
On Tuesday, Langley RCMP said a number of additional charges had been approved against Lunny. In total, Lunny now faces 19 charges relating to fraud for a rental property he did not own or control.
He is due back in court on Feb. 20.
