Bohol cop disarmed, faces rap for indiscriminate firing
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol- Authorities on Tuesday arrested a police officer for indiscriminate firing at the village of Casbu, Guindulman town.
Cpl. Marcelo Bernas Olaer, of the Valencia police station, was disarmed by Col. Jonathan Cabal, acting Bohol provincial police chief.
Cabal said complainants accused Olaer of firing his gun last Saturday (Feb. 1) for no apparent reason.
Police found two bullet shells from Olaer’s service firearm, a Glock pistol.
Olaer is facing charges of alarm and scandal as well as administrative charges for grave misconduct.
Cabal said cases of slight physical injury and grave threats were also filed against the policeman. Cabal said he learned that Olaer was also involved in manhandling case last Jan. 15.
“If you can’t do something good, at least do not do anything bad,” Cabal told policemen in Bohol. “For any infraction committed by the Bohol police, all accomplishments amount to nothing,” he said.
Olaer refused to issue any statement.
