Bed-in-a-box-style mattresses have changed the way many people shop for their bedroom essential.

But, according to Bindy Baidwan, chief executive officer of the Vancouver-based mattress company Lunazen Sleep, there can be some issues surrounding compressing a mattress down into a shippable box.

The company’s website highlights three main reasons to reconsider a compressed mattress including the rolling and folding causing damage to the memory foam; the downtime required for a mattress to expand after removing it from the box; and the inability to compress a “high-quality” mattress that uses a hybrid construction of memory foam and coils.

We caught up with Baidwan to learn more.
