Fab 5: Chase the sun

Bring on the sun. Seriously, we are really starting to miss that Vitamin D. Mexico, Hawaii, Miami, LA: we’d happily (very happily!) take any one of them right about now.
If you’ve got a warm-weather getaway on the horizon, lucky you. If not, here’s hoping things keep warming up (and we get a bit more sunshine than this current dreary rainy weather), that we get a very early summer, or you finally score one of those crazy last-minute seat sales. Our fingers are crossed for you.
Until then, Rebecca Tay presents five resortwear pieces to get you in the mood.
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again (until we’re blue in the face, if needed): there’s nothing better than a good jumpsuit. This one is knit, which makes it super versatile for both spring and spring break. Layer over a T-shirt and finish with ankle boots if you’re stuck at home, or team it with sandals for an elegant vacation night out.
Club Monaco, clubmonaco.com | $189.50
A shirt-dress is the ultimate wardrobe staple. No, really — what other piece can you wear to work, to brunch, to dinner with the in-laws, or to explore a quaint little seaside town? This leopard-print version by Wilfred is especially great for a weekend away: it disguises wrinkles and works just as well as a beach coverup as it does for a balmy, romantic candlelit dinner.
Aritzia, aritzia.com | $158
It wouldn’t be a vacation wardrobe without a fun, woven bag. We love this Caba structured raffia version by London-based designer Sophie Anderson: it’s cute without being twee (no pom poms here) and it goes surprisingly well with everything from printed dresses to shorts and a T-shirt. Bonus points for the fact that it’s majorly on sale.
Secret Location, secretlocation.ca | $615 ($246)
Does anything say “it’s going to be a lovely day” more than a sunshine-yellow piece of clothing? This pleated-front J.Crew silk twill number is technically a button-down blouse, but it works equally well (if not better) as a little jacket. Throw it on over anything and watch your mood — and those of everyone around you — instantly lift.
J.Crew, jcrew.com | $245
If you’re lucky enough to be heading somewhere so hot you don’t need any long-sleeve tops or pants, chances are, you’ll still want a bit of fabric to keep you covered on the plane. Enter these drawstring cropped pants. Made from chambray, which is about the lightest denim out there, they’re comfy enough for a long-haul flight and look smart with flat sandals and a fitted jacket should you get bumped up to business class.
Joe Fresh, joefresh.com | $29
