Kobe Bryant’s 20-year NBA career brought us indelible moments on the court. But while he is revered and adored by so many, so few actually would claim to have known him well. Relentless, curious and infinitely complicated was the man whose trophy case boasted MVPs, an Oscar and a best-selling novel.
Perhaps that’s because that is how Mamba wanted it. Kobe wasn’t satisfied with winning — he was gunning for total domination. He attacked the game with a fierceness that was both admirable and, at times, unsettling to his peers.
