As the winter chill continues in the city, our sartorial sights have settled firmly on knits.

Whether a chunky knit hat, a chic pair of lounge pants or a bold woven sweater, a warm-and-woolly knit piece can keep the cold at bay while also adding a fun dose of colour, pattern or texture into your day-to-day looks.

Here are three knit niceties that caught our eye this week (things are about to get cosy):

Lounge pants get a luxurious update thanks to a 100 per cent cashmere knit. These H&M Fine-knit Cashmere Pants feature a mid-rise and wider-cut leg for maximum comfort, while the super-soft natural fibre means you’ll want to live in these pants pretty much from the moment you get them home. We’re into the idea of wearing these luxe loungewear pants on an upcoming long-haul flight paired with a simple turtleneck top and a slightly oversized jacket. Hello, travel chic.

Add a bold pop of colour to your winter wardrobe with this Le Chateau Beanie. The style, which is available in bright pink or an equally bright blue, is like putting an exclamation point on your seasonal style. We like the idea of pairing a bright toque like this one with an otherwise understated outfit palette (think: all black, grey or beige) to really allow the neon hue to stand out. Bonus points added for the fact that you’ll be easier to spot in the snow too.

When it comes to warm winter-appropriate sweaters that mix fashion with function, it doesn’t get much better than a Fair Isle knit. The knitting technique, which is named after the Scottish island where it originated, sees multiple colours used to create a standout pattern on the sweater. We’re particularly enamoured with this TORY SPORT Performance Merino Fair Isle Sweater, which boasts an icy-blue hue, with fun pops of pink and dark blue for added effect. Pair it with easy blue jeans and your go-to boots for an effortless winter outfit.
